Papaya, Banana & Turmeric Smoothie

Updated: Feb 11, 2021

Serves 1

I’m not obsessed with the flavour of papaya on it’s on, which is why I have incorporated it into a smoothie with some strong flavours to help mellow it.

Turmeric is a fantastic spice with anti-inflammatory properties (along with ginger) and makes the smoothie such a glowing colour.

Using frozen fruit prevents oxidisation, ice can be used too. It also helps to thicken the drink.

Ingredients

1 frozen banana

1/2 frozen papaya

inch fresh ginger

100ml coconut milk

1/2tsp turmeric

crack of pepper

1/2tsp cinnamon

step1

Combine all of the ingredients into a blender and blitz until the smoothie is completely smooth.

Notes

- Use more milk if the drink is still too thick.

- If the drink isn’t sweet enough for your preference, add a couple of dates.

- Go easy on the pepper. It isn’t so much included for its flavour but for its relationship with turmeric. Pepper enhances the absorption of turmeric, without it, you wouldn’t be getting the full benefits of turmeric.
